At 78Ëš north, lying halfway between Norway and the North Pole, Svalbard is a wild land of glaciers and frozen tundra,
making it an irresistible destination for wildlife photographers. I first visited in May 2018 with a group of Italian photographers, specifically to photograph Arctic Foxes predating eider nests around the town of Longyearbyen. With unforgettable close encounters with a ghostly white fox within minutes of arriving, Svalbard has now become an annual fixture in my photographic year. With 24 hours of daylight, summertime is a great time to enjoy a rich variety of other wildlife such as breeding King and Common Eider, Phalaropes, Ptarmigan, and migrating Whales in the fjords.
